Ride to Yercaud

So it's turning out that I am visiting a new place every month this year and would like to continue this trend for rest of the year! This month we rode to Yercaud which is a small hill station about 400km from Chennai. This was more of a 'work' ride wherein I had to ride with one of my colleagues who had joined in from Brazil. The ride was planned on 13th June and return on 14th June back to Chennai. So we assembled at the best RE dealership(personal opinion) in Chennai, Aruvinduja Motors at Poonamallee.

However there was a delay because of some other riders and so we, 3 bikes, decided to move ahead while the group will wait for the rest of the guys and catch up later with us. We started from the dealership at about 06:40 am and as soon as we hit the highway the sky was clear and started getting little hot.

We stopped at CCD near Ambur for breakfast waiting for the group(waited for one hour) and continued riding further. When it's hot you tend to stop more for refreshments and break because you gotta stay hydrated.

Continued riding on the very nice and butter smooth highways towards Salem and stopped for lunch about 25km from Yercaud. The group still hadn't caught up with us. We continued riding.

From now on there was uphill ride and there are 20 hairpin bends and lots of curves to tackle (and enjoy!) while riding uphills. The roads are very smooth so we had a good time scraping our footpegs on the corners.

Reached our hotel at around 4pm. Although we were tired, me and my pillion Miss Pria decided to check out the lake we spotted while coming to the hotel.

From the lake we rode to the suicide point (every hill station has one, lol) and the view from there was breathtaking. There were lot of clouds so we couldn't click the sunset clearly.

Next day I rode with my friend Rodrigo again to that place.

After that came back to regroup and start the ride back.

We started riding at 11:30am and stopped for lunch at 1:15pm. Also we came via Attur route this time for a change.

After lunch we rode at good pace and entered Chennai at 6pm and reached Adyar by 7pm. A good ride close to 800km in two days. Now watch this short video of the ride uphills towards Yercaud.

This time I am letting the pictures do the talking more than words. So enjoy the pics and keep visiting this blog for more ride stories!

Ride Safe.
